I love to network with other women in the LGBQT community as much as I can, so when I got an interesting email from Mads, I knew she was one of those girls I had to get the word out about. She’s got a great idea and I’ll just let her tell you about it. Mads, you have the floor:
We’ve all got it, sometimes we forget about it. Then we’ll have a drink or two… or eight shots of Fireball (damn you Fireball) and there is it. It’s that story that makes everyone around us laugh in surprise, or just stare in shock, or even makes us get a little teary. Women are passionate, wild, fun, and sensitive – so lesbians just always manage to have a wealth of unique stories.
If I had a nickel for every time my gay friends told me they could write a book with the crazy shit that’s happened to them, then I for sure wouldn’t be in graduate school. It was with that in mind that I started a blog, of sorts. But, it’s a community blog, a Clog-if you will. Well, that’s my goal for it. I have this image, similar to an XOJane site, except for women on the homo-spectrum. All of them, whether they’ve been out for thirty years or two months. Whether they’re the wife-beater, gym shorts lez or the dress and f-me heels femme lady. I think it’d be really amazing if we could all come together on one Communal site and share our experiences-be able to be entertained, comment on, and even learn from each other.
The lesbian world can be rough, everyone knows that, I mean when I came out – I was outright rejected by the first groups of lesbians I tried to be friends with for, “looking too straight.” So I thought, what if there was this place where my fellow girl-on-girl brethren (sistren?) could talk about anything they want-sex, relationships, weird sex, weirder relationships-without having to look everyone in the eye?! And others could go and read and think anything they want about the stories, because they don’t know the teller! The stories all are submitted anonymously, but your name can be attached to them if you’d like! I even have the idea of posting lesbian fiction that people want to submit-come on, I know like a quarter of you girlies write lesbian erotica on the side This could really be something awesome, but it takes all of us working together and sharing. So please, come check out the site, have a look around, and if the mood strikes you-submit something! You can even submit pictures to go along with the story! Come help found a whole online community without ever having to put the effort into socializing I’m Mads and I can’t wait to meet you at Community Found!
