Her Voice Makes Me …

First of all, let me draw you a map of how I came upon my obsession of the day.

I love Rachel Brice. And the fact that she looks almost exactly like my first girl love, has nothing to do with it. In fact, I love her in spite of that little factoid. She’s the sexiest dancer in the world to me, and in my head, she’s a lesbian.

Rachel Brice

From watching her, I found another dancer named Zoe Zakes. Pictures like this, only prove my unproven factoid, that now, they are both lesbians. ;) (in my head)

From both of these lovely ladies, I found the music of Beats Antique. This funky group that makes the kind of music I dance to, for Remi.

It was on one of their tracks that I then found this artist named, LYNX.  I googled her and was pleasantly surprised to see that she looked like “family.” But she’s from the bay area and I’ve come to realize that most of the women out there look like lesbians, even when they love the boy parts. So I’m trying hard not to make assumptions. Having said that, how could she not be gay!???

I found this cool video of her performing but was more impressed with her groupies!!!! Ummm … I want to go to one of her shows. Half of me wants to see her perform and the other half of me just wants to get lost in that undulating sea of women.

But check out her other music. I just downloaded her CD, On the Horizon and it’s playing in the background as I write this. My favorite track so far is Tricksters and Fools.

I’ve embedded a little music player below, you can listen to most of her tracks. You’re welcome. ;)

Her voice makes me want to make out with her.

Ye Gods, Sasha! This is one of the sexiest posts yet!! I agree with you (about her voice). Thank you! I’m downloading in 3, 2, 1……..

Shit, she’s really good. I remember when you used to dance like that for me.

  4. A fan July 17, 2012 at 3:22 pm Permalink

Oh wow Sasha, you belly dance like that? Daydreaming now. :p

Lynx is so hot. I want her music on my ipod now!

Seriously the more I listen to this the more I need to have sex to it. Remi needs to come home NOW

  6. Sasha July 17, 2012 at 4:24 pm Permalink

    “Burning Bone” is sooooo hot

  7. A fan's friend July 17, 2012 at 4:44 pm Permalink

Yea, downloaded it. Hot doesn’t even come close.

@Alex, don’t you think that comment was disrespectful to Remi?

  8. Alex July 17, 2012 at 4:47 pm Permalink

@ a fan, Sasha dances better then that, sexier, slinkier. I don’t know how to describe it. She’s really smooth and snake like, she doesn’t do that pop locking thing, I don’t even like it, it throws me off when they do it. Lol. To answer you, Sasha does belly dance and it’s mind blowing when she does.

@ a fans friend, I don’t think so. Remi knows Sasha and I used to date. I’m still friends with Sasha. If she didn’t like it, she could put a stop to our friendship.

  9. A fan's friend July 17, 2012 at 4:54 pm Permalink

What you’re saying then, Alex, is that Sasha use to date dicks like you and then she married a kind, mature woman like Remi who is isn’t threatened by your rude comments?

Can’t watch the video yet, but preliminary comments:
Zoe is one of my faves! I find her quite memorable.
And it’s nice to read that you dance for Remi.

I think I might be the only person who can’t get into this….

  15. Elegy July 17, 2012 at 6:30 pm Permalink

Ah, Jul, maybe you’d prefer Shakira’s live rendition of Ojos Así.

  16. Jul July 17, 2012 at 7:11 pm Permalink

    Elegy…

    Shakira can definitely shake it.

…and so on and so on! If you ever need music recommendations, feel free to ask.

@Elegy – Ha, that music video was my “gateway drug” into “world music” along with Tarkan’s “Simarik” video. I loved the blend of Spanish and Arabic lyrics, plus I’m a worldly type of person and a language freak as well. I also have all of the Ojos Asi videos in different forms (and know the lyrics by heart), from the Latin Grammy’s, to the official video, to the MTV Unplugged version.

Sorry for the long post, but I can share and talk all day long about music, among other stuff… -_-

  18. Sasha July 18, 2012 at 12:41 am Permalink

Lol, no Jul, you’re not the only one. Remi came home and did not get it either.

    I still love it.

Virgo: awesome!! I actually know and have EVERY SINGLE one of those artists already. In fact I’ve danced to a few songs by Natacha Atlas and Azam Ali! Well, who knew we had similar taste in music!? You’re the only other person I know that even knows these!

  19. virgo July 18, 2012 at 6:23 am Permalink

@Sasha – That is awesome! Likewise, I haven’t met anyone who was into the same music either, usually people are stuck on one specific genre and don’t have eclectic tastes, or it is more narrowly confined for them. A good majority of the time, I get this weird look like, “Wtf, how can you listen to (insert language here) and not “understand” the words blah blah blah?” Then I’m like, “Really? Oh, don’t even get me started on how music is a universal language, etc.” Anyways, obviously this isn’t the only genre I listen to, but music is awesome like that, there are so many different genres and artists out there to be explored.

  20. virgo July 18, 2012 at 6:30 am Permalink

@Sasha – I forgot to mention, are you familiar with http://www.last.fm/home? Not only can you track what you are listening to by “scrobbling,” but you can also get some great music recommendations of similar artists from differing genres and styles.

  21. WWG July 18, 2012 at 10:28 am Permalink

@Virgo – awesome! I love world music too. Natacha Atlas’s “kidda” is a favorite of mine. I love Cheb Mami and Cheb Khaled as well. Another favorite is Lhasa de Sela. Check out “love came here”, “anywhere on this road” and “my name”. I die for those songs.

  22. virgo July 18, 2012 at 5:18 pm Permalink

@WWG – Ha, I’m kind of in shock a little because it’s kind of rare to find people who are into the whole “world music,” thing, let alone music in general. Would you believe me if I told you I’ve heard of all those artists you mentioned? There is a song by Cheb Khaled & Amr Diab called Qalbi, that I really love, of course I like their other songs as well. Also, Rachid Taha is another good artist, if you haven’t heard of him, he’s in the same vein as Cheb Mami and Cheb Kahled. “World music,” is definitely one of my things, I use to get the magazine Songlines (http://www.songlines.co.uk/) and check out all the “worldly” artists. I really want to go to some “world music” venues, like Festival In The Desert (http://www.festival-au-desert.org/), Womad (http://www.womad.org/), etc. I’ve been to things like the Sierra World Music Festival (http://www.snwmf.com/), which was fucking awesome. I’m sure we wouldn’t be able to stop talking about “world music,” if we ever got together, lol.

  23. Sasha July 19, 2012 at 12:55 am Permalink

I really like Cheb Mami and Cheb Khaled as well!! I think WWG, Virgo and I should have a belly dance party :) even if you don’t dance, you can just watch! :)

  25. Heather July 19, 2012 at 7:31 am Permalink

Is this making anyone else want to take belly dancing lessons? lol

  26. virgo July 19, 2012 at 7:58 am Permalink

@Sasha – LOL, I don’t dance. I’m a “behind the scenes” person, I don’t like the spotlight, so I’d rather be on the sidelines playing the doubmek (I own one actually, which is the drum they use for bellydancing and “Middle Eastern” music), or DJ’ing or conducting the music playlist.

  27. Sasha July 19, 2012 at 10:57 am Permalink

I have a doubmek! One of my old drummer friends from Syria gave me one of his. I always wanted to learn how play it! But could never stop dancing long enough to learn it, whenever the beat started!

Oh my, now my imaginary belly dance party is getting really good! I love improving to a live drummers!! It’s sooooo electric feeling. I’m starting to really miss belly dancing :( all of this is bringing back a lot of good memories.

  28. virgo July 19, 2012 at 11:01 am Permalink

@Sasha – Nice! Maybe you should get back into it? Fun + Exercise = Can’t go wrong.

  29. WWG July 19, 2012 at 5:43 pm Permalink

@virgo -im not at a computer right now but I’m fairly certain I know rachid taha. I love rai music.

And I used to get up and belly dance as a kid whenever music came on. I’m an amateur though but I want to take lessons badly!! Sasha, I’ll join you at the party!
