Hot Butch Alert

Azora Telford

I originally found this on Butch Sightings. I was immediately in lust with the super sexy butch in the video. So much so, I cyber stalked her and asked her for an interview on Facebook. She never got back to me. :( So this is my unrequited way of loving her from afar. ;) For anyone that missed it on Butch Sightings here you go. For those of you lucky enough to have already seen it, I’m sure you’ll enjoy a second round of butch hotness.

By the way, I took 4 years of ASL (American Sign Language) back in school and even passed my interpreters test in college! But it’s been YEARS since I’ve used it and have probably forgotten most of it. But if there was ever a motivating reason to take a refreshers course it would be in the hopes of one day, you know … casually, bumping into her at the Abbey or some other gay hot spot.

A little about the video from their YouTube page:

This video is an ASL interpretation of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know.” An expression of ASL music composed by a team of Deaf and CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) members, including the crew and cast members.

The inspiration of this concept was to allow communities largely under served by music to experience the passion and emotion it conveys, most take for granted. It also serves to expose and raise awareness about ASL art and deaf culture to the world. It demonstrates how music cannot only be heard, but be seen as well, by giving the viewer an aural and visually rich experience simultaneously.

I love this. I watched it without sound, and it still translated well, and I don’t even know sign. I have always wanted to learn it, though. I think it is wonderful that music can be interpreted in so many ways. Thanks for sharing! = )

I’ve seen this around and didn’t feel compelled to watch it until now. Thanks for posting, it’s captivating in its subtleties. I prefer the amount of expression in this video, particularly in comparison to what was held back in the official music video- it’s on another level heart-wrenching(especially starting at 2:32), you’re compelled to care about the characters and their personal hurts.

Oh my….what a sexy sexy person (and video)….I really can’t blame you for the stalking or unrequited love lol

She’s hot!! So Sasha, did you understand any of the sign language with the sound off? (You know, in those moments when you were actually paying attention to the sign language and not drooling over her).

I LOVE this. My Deaf ex sent it to me a while back, and I found I appreciated the song much more in sign than in its original form. (And it doesn’t hurt that she’s super fucking hot!) Did you ever dream in sign language? When I was immersed in Deaf Culture, I often did, and I still find myself sorting out difficult situations using sign language in my head…it just gets at something so much deeper than the spoken word. (I miss my Deaf friends in Portland…where do all the queer Deafies in LA hang out??)

I’ve never watched an ASL video like this, thank you for sharing (and for your admission of stalkerism – acknowledging it is the first step to overcoming it :P )

P.S. It’s lame that she didn’t give you the interview!
