This last Saturday I was out at one of the local lesbian dive bars and I saw a butch chick flaggin’ an orange hankie right in the center of the back of her pants. I was trying to remember what orange meant, it had to be something good. But I was also trying to figure out what it meant if you wear a hanky in the middle. So I did a little research and here you go:
Hankies are usually worn in either the back left or right pockets, however, they can also be worn around the wrist, around the ankle or leg at the thigh above the knee, or around the neck with the knot/tie going either right or left. Other objects can also be used such as keys and key chains or watch fobs and even a set of handcuffs (Bondage), to let people know if you are ‘top’ or ‘bottom’.
Left = Top/Active
Right = Bottom/Passive
If worn in the back on the center belt loop, it translates as ‘versatile’.

What about wearing your keys in your front pocket? i heard if you wear it in your front left pocket you’re looking to take someone home. If in your right, you’re looking to be taken back to someone’s home. Or something like that.

oh shit, who knew that bandanas meant anything? i usually go with a black one in my right pocket, but it actually means “i’m left handed so my wallet’s in my left pocket so this guy’s gotta go on the right and i just like black bandanas.”

It’s not a LESBIAN hanky code, it’s just A hanky code. Gay men started it long long ago. Now a days, even heteros use it. The colours are pretty consistent regardless of gender or attraction.

Well I know that the gay boys started this back in the day and it’s not super popular among lesbians now days, however the inspiration for this blog happened when I saw several very butch women “flaggin” at the clubs. Maybe it was just a fashion statement? Maybe it was just my hopeful imagination that made me think they were looking for a good time?
But yes, some people do actually do this, mostly in the BDSM scene though, I think.

I was just trying to figure out if I was missing something, cause my wife, who does ware a questionably short hair cut and dresses often with a mans sleeveless T-shirt, always seems to attract women that fit the lesbian profile. I was just hoping to see if she might be keeping a little secret from me. I don’t mind, I just hate the idea of being left in the dark and made a fool of. I’ve seen and witnessed many tell tell signs in the past, but just figured it was youthful curiosity. Many of her friends could have been seen as those that might go both ways, though when asked, she would comment, at least to me, as if such things were discusting. Yet, whenever we go into a large store, she’ll often get approuched by an apparent lesbian and either flirted with or asked if she needs any help with anything. I can’t help but feel that I’ve possibly been being played. Can anyone help to clue me in, as to what to watch for. I’d like to have a partner that is more honest and opened with me than that, if there is this type of game playing going on.
