Lots of happy endings…

Well, I went to Cafe Viento y Agua Sat. night and had no luck. One of the performers sang a version of the National Anthem called the butch strut. She had a great voice and that was the highlight of the night.

Sprouts on PCH and Crenshaw seems to have a lot of lesbians working there, but the mainly over-65 customer base kinda spoils the mood. (Every time I go in there the old folks are swarming the place, and they’re pretty vocal and aggressive. Who knew how much a bargain on fruits and veggies could rile up an elderly person?)

Love bookstores but I’d never heard of the Bodhi Tree till your blog. Went last night, didn’t have anything better to do on a Sat night and I saw this one hot woman. i couldn’t get my eyes off her.

I didn’t know how to approach her so I kind of followed her around looking at the same books she was looking at. We got near a lesbian section and I picked one up and made it obvious that I was looking at a “LESBIAN” book.

She noticed and said that she already read that and I should get it! We started talking and ended up having coffee across the street.

I have a date with her later tonight.

Just wanted to let you know.

I have a question that maybe you could help me with?

I’m a very femme looking lesbian. I wear skirts all the time, high heals, lipstick you get the picture. My question is that I’m crushing on this butch girl at school. Like bad. She’s in my lit. class and she’s nice to me, but she totally ignores me most of the time.

How do I get her attention? How do I let her know I like her? What the hell is wrong with me????

BTW I went to Ripples and the library this weekend. I met a cute girl at Ripples but the crowd at the library was mostly guys and butch women, not my scene. There were some cute dogs outside thought with their owners. I’ll take mine next time, maybe it’ll be a girl magnet!

What about wednesday nights at Club Broadway in Long Beach? (Broadway and redondo) This is a bar, rather than a club, but lots of ladies, as I recall, and pretty low key.
I also second the Hot Java and Library options. They are good places to go by yourself, unlike bars where that can feel awkward.

Sasha, this is brilliant! I don’t live in LA, but you could be describing almost any metropolitan area with some of your thoughts…

…coffee shops (check), a “certain” whole foods (check), both a “ghetto” and “upscale” bar/club (check)….don’t go too early or there are tons of desperate people there (check).

I’m probably going to try to hit up Girl Bar when I’m in LA in a few weeks. I’ve never been to a lesbian bar (in fact the only gay bar I’ve been to is a teeny tiny one in Iowa City). However, I was planing on going on a Friday for the sign up on the internet and get in free before nine thing, and then I found out that the conference dinner I’ll be at beforehand doesn’t end until 9, and it’s at UCLA law school so I can’t just slip out. I don’t know if I really want to go somewhere that I have to *pay* to enter the bar for an hour. I am hoping that there are some good bookshops within walking distance of my hotel (Ramada West Hollywood). I miss cities
