Master Cleanse Drop Out

I’ve had that song, “Beauty school drop out” playing on a loop in my head all day. Only in my version I hear,

“Master cleanse drop out

Baby get moving (Baby get movin),
Why keep your feeble hopes alive?
What are you proving (What are you proving)?
You’ve got the dream but not the drive

Master Cleanse Drop out”

Yes, it’s true I didn’t even last a day on the fast and Remi was not very happy when I told her that I had already blogged about it. But let me explain ……

First of all, my calculations that told me it was a good idea to start a cleanse right after being deathly ill from the flu were wrong. It was a very bad idea.

But not as stupid as the thought that I should undertake such a thing in the middle of a 48 hour migraine. I hadn’t slept the night before due to a migraine that was so bad I was throwing up and crying on the floor. But I thought, “Hey, maybe this cleanse will help with these horrible headaches.”

But by 3:00 p.m. I was in bed with an ice pack, literally shaking from the pain of the migraine and Remi asked me if I didn’t think it was the wrong day to start the fast. “No!” I said, “I’m not quitting now.”

Well that fortitude lasted about 2 hours longer before I was so overtaken with the migraine that I no longer cared about the Master Cleanse or the hundred reasons I had for doing it. So we made an executive decision as a couple and broke the fast before we ever really got started.

Part of me felt really guilty about it, but the larger part of me was in too much pain to care. We did however promise to do it a little later when we’re both feeling stronger and more fully recovered.

The other thing I told myself to help rationalize my failure was that I had already lost 10 pounds in a week of being sick so I deserved a good meal finally. :) And if there was any doubt as to how bad my migraine really was to make it a valid excuse for quitting, I passed out last night when we got home and hit my head pretty good on our driveway. Not to mention I landed on something pokey and now have a nice bruise as a souvenir of my trip to black out land.

But don’t worry. All hope for the “New & Improved Me” hasn’t totally fallen to the wayside. It’s just been reworked a bit. More to come on my latest plans to be the best Sasha I can be! :) Dun dadahdahhhhhhh!!!!!! <—- que my inner theme song.

Now all I need is your forgiveness for letting every one down and not sticking with it. I’m literally hanging my head in shame ….. while eating yummy yummy yogurt. ;)

Whoa, gal, take her easy there!
I won’t hold it against you at all and am in fact glad you are backing off. Let me give the disclaimer that I’m already sort of a skeptic about these sorts of things, but even were I not, the idea of going on a liquid fast right after being ill seems to be asking for trouble.

I just know that my brother and I are both mildly hypoglycemic, and our mom is extremely sensitive in that regard. She can be laid out in bed for days after letting her blood sugar drop too low. It takes her a long time to recover from flu in the same way that you described. The cleanse is going to fuck up your blood sugar a bit but right now, it already is toasted because of being sick.

Give yourself a couple of weeks or so to rebuild your strength if you really want to do this. For now, eat lots of proteins and vegetables. They’ll help your body even out.

    Listen here, Lovie,

You were laid up for a week with a nasty bug and you lost 10 fuckin pounds in that time!!????? What were you thinking when you thought you could start a fast any time soon??!!!!

You need to take it nice and easy for at least another week before you go around trying to be Wonder Woman again.

The drive to finish something should not eclipse better judgment. If Kirby Brown had followed her better judgment instead of her drive to overcome, then she might be alive today. Kirby Brown was an adventurous surfer who was killed in that infamous sweat lodge incident in Arizona. Always follow your instinct. You might be determined to base jump off the Empire State Building without a parachute and land on your feet, but your physical limitations prevent your drive from accomplishing that feat. Always know your limitations. You made a wise decision. No one should fault you for that.

I have been your friend for years and years now and nothing ever scared me more with you, then when you passed out in krav that one time. Jonathon carried you out and he was so scared he was crying! That huge, buff giant of a man was brought to tears because you scared the hell out of us. I can only imagine how Remi felt when it happened to her. Please, with your heart condition you need to be very careful after being sick like you were. Take at least a month before you try that cleanse again, if you’re just dead set on doing it and I’m pretty sure you are. So just take it easy for a while and get strong again. PLEASE just take care of yourself or let Remi do it. I know she’s better at taking care of you then you are.

You’re not the only one to fail the Master Cleanse! I only lasted a few days and was completely miserable. What a waste of a weekend. I’m firmly in the “our bodies were designed pretty well” camp now.

    I still can’t drink lemonade.

Just eat raw for a few days. :)
