A few of you asked me to re-post this so here it is. This is the previously deleted post that I took down because a reader left a scathing comment. Usually I have pretty thick skin but I guess I didn’t yesterday. But thanks to some of your comments I feel a little better so I’ve re-posted in an attempt to stay true to what I like to do, which is be painfully honest about the highs and lows. This was a low. So be it. I’m not only NOT perfect, I’m pretty fucked up sometimes. I know this. Remi knows this. I’ve apologized to her for the evening and she forgave me, so that’s all that matters.

So tonight was the first night that Remi and I have been out since she got discharged from the Marine Corps. But before we get to WeHo let’s back up a bit. [...]

East West Lounge: Worth the $20 Drinks?

Last Thursday night my girls and I made the trek out to WeHo to check out East West. I had read in a little lesbian magazine that this was the place to go rub shoulders with a better class of ladies. Hmph. We shall see … and see we did.

We got there a little early, around 9:30. The sapphic gods were smiling down on us since we found parking and got right in, without so much as a second wasted in line. Once inside we made our way over to the bar in seek of the legendary $20 cocktail. On our way over we tried to take in the scene: elegant couches stretched down the center of the room, more couches lined the far wall.

Women of all shapes and sizes formed small cliques and although the room was crowded, the cliques managed to stay in tact. Never parting to mingle except when forcibly separated by a tipsy lesbian on her way to the co-ed bathroom, parting the tight knit groups like the red sea only to see them swallow up the empty space as quickly as it had opened.

It took at least thirty minutes if not more to get the attention of a cute bartender. He was cute, but he was also a he. I noticed a very hot little bartender with short dark hair and a black wife beater that showed off her perfect arms and sexy tatts. But alas, we were stuck with the cute gay boy. Oh well.

I ordered my usual, a cape cod and was more than happy to see that although overpriced, they’re not too stingy with the 80 proof. While enjoying my drink and trying to get a look at the women that were now spilling into the club from the long line that had formed outside, Maggie and I noticed a VIP room above our heads. Where three butchy women stood perched high above the crowds, drinking Corona’s and pointing to various girls in the club.

Immediately Maggie and I put our heads together and discussed becoming VIP members just so that we too, could look down at everyone else. Except this time literally instead of just figuratively.

So in conclusion my review of East West is very favorable. If you’re looking for a place where all the beautiful people go to look at each other, than this is it. If you’re OK spending an arm and a leg on drinks than you’ll love it. But in fairness, there’s no cover, so your first drink evens out. There’s good music, but no dancing. I didn’t get any numbers but I did get my ass grabbed by a few girls who ended up being there with their girlfriends.

But I did see a few women that really caught my eye but we left before I had worked up the courage to talk to them. Maybe I’ll run into them next time, from what I hear a lot of women are regulars on Thursday nights. I just might end up being one of them.
